Mosaics Basics by Just Ducky Mosaics
This is a fun two-day class!
Maximum students are four. This is a great way to spend time with friends while visiting Fort Bragg.
Classes are held in Mendocino County just outside the Fort Bragg city limits. Five minutes from the ocean.
All materials, safety equipment and tools are provided. If you want to bring a dish or object from home to incorporate into your piece, please do!
We will have a lunch break; you are welcome to bring a lunch. There is refrigeration available and a microwave. Having lunch delivered or taking a break to get a bite is also an option. Coffee and tea are available throughout the day.
I will be available throughout both days to give several demonstrations on how to cut and apply tile, grout and finishing your piece.
Day One: Arrive at my home studio (full disclosure…it is my garage!) in the morning. We have an introduction to mosaics, safety while working with tools and sharp broken chards of tile and objects, discuss your project and work on design, select tile and adhere tile. For the 10-inch ceramic flowerpot and depending on class size and possible previous experience, this takes between 6 and 8 hours. Once the design is finished, it has to set overnight before we can grout.
Day Two: On our last day, we will work on a starting time either in the morning or after lunch. This is when we grout your piece. This takes usually between 2-3 hours. You will take your finished flowerpot home with you at the end of the day.
